ResalesWisconsin Real Estate Market Stays In Balance
When most people think of Wisconsin, they think of cheese, as the state is among the nation"s leading producers of dairy products. But Wisconsin has many surprises in store.
Did you know that the Green Bay Packers are the only publicly-owned franchise in the NFL? Or that Milwaukee has been the home of the Harley-Davidson Company since 1903? Wisconsin borders two Great Lakes and has over 15,000 inland lakes. Its excellent school system has consistently produced the highest scoring students in the nation on the ACT (college entrance exam) test.
Milwaukee is home of the nation"s largest outdoor musical festival, Summerfest, set to begin June 27th through July 7th, during which some of the biggest stars in music perform outdoors.
If plenty of cool lake breezes and grasslands weren"t enough to tempt a relocating family, the state has also boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates and cost of living rankings in the nation.
"Metro Milwaukee consists of four counties, with downtown Milwaukee as the cultural center," say Realtors Judy Hearst and Jamie Hearst Druck. "It"s a comfortable family lifestyle, and fun neighborhoods make this ethnically diverse metro area exciting.
Describe the Drucks, "The real estate market in metro Milwaukee is currently well balanced. There is a steady supply of a wide variety of homes, and properties are selling well. The housing market, after having a slow last quarter in 2001, has been active since January. Mild winter weather and favorable interest rates along with a favorable economy have helped stabilize the spring market. In some areas such as the East side of Milwaukee, the condo and single family market is very strong with a nice mix of unit styles and active buyers."
University life as well as a strong job market make living in Fox Valley, north of Milwaukee, attractive.
"This is a fast-growing area with Midwestern charm," says Realtor Gale Theo Korth. "Education needs from kindergarten through college are met through public and private schools at all levels, including the University of Wisconsin Fox Valley campus and also Lawrence University. The new performing arts center construction is on target for opening in 2003. Sports, music, theatre, and many conventions fill our numerous hotels and motels. Many restaurants feature specialties for casual and fine dining."
Continues Korth, "The 30-mile radius includes many professions from insurance, paper, education, medical, retail and supporting businesses."
About the housing market in Fox Valley, Korth says, "Summer is looking Strong. Great market indicators show positive projections. Home Sales are active, and the low interest rate has a strong impact for all prices."
To the south of Milwaukee is Lake Geneva, where Realtors Ron and Diana Dahlberg say, "If you like lots of specialty shops, large executive homes, condominium complexes, surrounded by Lake Geneva and surrounding lakes (for whatever your pleasure ... fishing, sailing, swimming, pontooning), and enjoy living in a tourist area, this is it! We have the best of both worlds ... old world charm and contemporary lifestyles."
Explain the Dahlbergs, "Southeastern Wisconsin, Lake Geneva, is a fast growing market, especially because of its location between the larger cities! (Milwaukee and Chicago) It is an area of many resorts, affluence and opportunity! The housing market is ever growing ... condominiums and new construction continue to pave the way."
